Senior Property Tax Exemption
The Senior Citizen and Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemptions currently existing in the Colorado Revised Statues allows for those who qualify, 50 percent of the first $200,000 in actual value of their primary residence to be exempted from property tax.  Under the authority provided to the General Assembly by the Colorado Constitution, the exemption amount can be changed or eliminated.

Disabled Veterans Exemption Amendment
The Disabled Veterans Exemption Amendment was passed November 2006. The amendment was an expansion to the senior property tax exemption by including “qualifying disabled veterans”. Qualified disabled veterans will receive a 50% exemption on the first $200,000 of actual value on their 2012 tax bill payable in 2013 for their primary residence.

The deadline for filing an application to the Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Division of Veterans Affairs is July 1 of the year in which the exemption is requested.
