Elizabeth Ortiz Originally from Texas, Elizabeth began her career at the Coroner’s Office in 1992 as a Pathologist Assistant. While working
at the Coroner’s Office she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Colorado in Denver and was
a member of the Colorado Coroner’s Association. In 1999, she left to pursue a career in law enforcement and is currently a
Reserve Officer with the Morrison Police Department in Morrison Colorado.
Elizabeth returned to the Coroner’s Office in 2006 as a Pathologist Assistant, after obtaining her second Bachelor of Science
in Psychology. In February of 2007, she became a Medical Investigator. Elizabeth is also a member of DMORT, a federal program
which assists during catastrophic events where lives are lost.
While obtaining her bachelor’s in psychology, she did extensive research studying the effects of exercise on neurotrophins
and Alzheimer’s disease. She continues doing research at the University of Colorado with Dr. Albeck. She also volunteers at
a nursing home with Alzheimer’s patients.
Elizabeth is also bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish and assisting the Spanish speaking family members the office comes in
contact with.
