When a vehicle currently registered in Colorado is out of state at the time of renewal, an application for emission extension (DR2376) must be completed. One of the following reasons must exist to qualify for the emission extension:
1.A student is attending school out of state. 2. The owner is a Colorado resident, on active duty stationed out of state for military purposes. 3. The owner is a Colorado resident but resides out of state seasonally. 4. The vehicle is disabled out of state. 5. The owner is a Colorado resident but temporarily working out of state. 6. The owner is a Colorado resident temporarily out of state.
If the application is approved, the registration and tabs will be mailed to the out of state address shown on the application.
Extensions are approved up to 12 months or when the vehicle returns to Colorado.
