
Arapahoe County provides numerous services to assist seniors in maintaining a healthy, active and independent life. With more
than 67,000 seniors over the age of 60, the County works hard to coordinate with communities and organizations to offer useful
services. We strive to provide a safe and high quality of life for our seniors.
Arapahoe County partnered with the Arapahoe County Council on Aging for the 2009 Senior Survey, to identify the needs of residents over age 60.

First Ride Senior Transportation
Arapahoe County’s Senior Transportation Program helps seniors continue to live independently in the community by providing
transportation to medical appointments, senior dining centers, grocery stores and food banks. All buses are small, wheelchair-accessible
vehicles, and are clearly marked with the First Ride logo to help seniors know when their ride has arrived.Transportation is supported by Older American’s Act Funding and Arapahoe County.Donations are welcome. For more information or to schedule a trip, please call 720-540-5566.
Homemaker and Chore Service Programs
The Homemaker and Chore Services Programs help seniors to remain independent and self-sufficient in their own homes by providing
free, light housekeeping and assistance with heavier chores.
Services provided by Homemakers include general routine light cleaning on a biweekly basis for 1.5 hours, such as changing
bed linens, doing laundry, dusting furniture, vacuuming and mopping floors, washing inside windows, wiping down counters and
refrigerators, cleaning ovens and general cleaning of kitchens and bathrooms.
Services provided by Chore Services include fall or spring yard work, washing outdoor first-floor windows, major household
cleaning or organizing projects, and other services.These programs are not able to provide pet, personal or health care.

Meals on Wheels
Arapahoe County supports the Town of Littleton Cares Meals on Wheels Program, which provides nutritious, fresh, home-delivered
meals to income-eligible seniors in the western portion of the County. To learn more, please call 303-798-7642. Meals on Wheels
in the Aurora area is provided by Volunteers of America at 303-297-0408. In the Eastern Plans area, contact The Senior Hub
at 303-731-4813.
Veterans Services
The Arapahoe County Veterans Service Office assists residents who served in the Armed Services of the United States to obtain any and all benefits for which they may
be eligible,such as service connected disability, pension and burial benefits, as well as providing referrals for veterans for educational and

50+ & Fabulous Employment Resource Center
Arapahoe County’s 50+ & Fabulous Resource Center is a full-service resource center for the mature job seeker. The center is
located at the Arapahoe/Douglas Works! workforce center in Centennial. It offers a wide array of free support for job seekers,
including workshops targeted to the mature worker, computers with internet access, one-on-one résumé and career assistance,

Project Lifesaver
Project Lifesaver offers state-of-the-art radio transmission devices to assist law enforcement in locating persons with Alzheimer’s,
Autism, dementia and related disorders who wander from home. For more information, call the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office

Adult Protective Services
Arapahoe County protects those who are susceptible to mistreatment or self-neglect because they are unable to perform or obtain
services necessary for their own health, safety or welfare. The County’s Adult Protective Services investigates reports of
abuse, neglect and exploitation, and provides assessments, counseling, service coordination and referrals to service providers.
If you have concerns that someone you know is being abused or neglected, that their money is being taken from them, or that
they are living alone and no longer seem able to care for him or herself, please call 303-636-1750.
Financial Assistance
Arapahoe County’s Department of Human Services offers several financial assistance programs to help the elderly. Each program
