Community Corrections was established to assist with an offender’s reintegration into the community through enhanced supervision
and specialized services and treatment. When offenders or inmates are placed into a community corrections program, they are
monitored and receive services—such as drug and alcohol treatment, anger management, basic living skills, and employment assistance—aimed
at lowering the risk of re-offending.
Community Corrections provides services to the diversion client as a direct sentence, and the transition client referred directly
from the Department of Corrections as authorized in Title 17, Article 27, of the Colorado Revised Statutes. Diversion candidates are offenders who have not yet been sentenced or placed in DOC custody, or offenders who violated probation and
are to be re-sentenced. Transition candidates are inmates serving a sentence in the Colorado Department of Corrections who are awaiting the possibility of release
into the community.
