In response to the growing needs of the local criminal justice system, the Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners created
a Justice Coordinating Committee in August 2007. The initial purpose of the committee was to address the growing need for
jail space in Arapahoe County. However, the scope of the Committee has grown to include not only the issues of jail bed space,
but also a focus to insure that criminal justice services provided within Arapahoe County are handled in the most effective
and efficient ways possible.
The Justice Coordinating Committee for Arapahoe County consists of County Commissioner Nancy Jackson, District 4; County Commissioner
Bill Holen, District 5; Sheriff J. Grayson Robinson; William B. Sylvester, Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial District; Carol
Chambers, District Attorney, 18th Judicial District; Greenwood Village Mayor Ron Rakowsky; and Brad Cromer, citizen member.
The Justice Coordinating Committee meets monthly, generally on the first Friday of each month. The meetings promote community
dialogue among citizens and representatives from the courts, law enforcement, and local and state government. All County
citizens are welcome.
