Insulation & Air Sealing Rebate Program
The Insulate Colorado insulation and air sealing rebate program provides eligible Arapahoe County residents with up to $300 in cash rebates for
making qualifying insulation and air-sealing upgrades in their homes using eligible contractors.
This program is made available to County residents through two different sources:
- Non-Xcel Energy gas customers may access the rebates through Arapahoe County’s Weatherization Division
- Xcel Energy gas customers in Arapahoe County may access for the rebate through Xcel’s rebate program.
Residents may not request Insulate Colorado rebates from both Xcel Energy and Arapahoe County’s Weatherization Division.
Rebates are only available at a 20-percent contractor job cost reimbursement, or $300 maximum per home, whichever amount is
less. Only one rebate per address is allowed. All rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until program funds have been depleted or until December 31, 2009.
Eligibility
To qualify for the Insulate Colorado program through the Arapahoe County Weatherization Division, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a resident of Arapahoe County
- Be a non-Xcel gas customer
- Own the residence and be the official homeowner of record.
- Use an “eligible” contractor to perform the insulation and air-sealing work on their home
Qualifying Upgrades
The rebates are available for attic or exterior wall insulation and air sealing upgrades only. The program does not require upgrading in all areas of the home, but the upgrades must meet the following criteria to qualify:
- Be completed by an eligible contractor. Do-it-yourself projects are not eligible for the rebate.
- Be completed on an existing residential dwelling, not new construction.
- Insulation must be upgraded to determined minimum R-Values for the specific climate zone (see the rebate request form below
for details).
- Eligible contractors must install insulation and air sealing measures according to program requirements presented during the
contractor eligibility seminar.
Arapahoe County reserves the right to inspect the installed rebated material and work. If a residence does not have the qualifying material
or work installed, the homeowner may be required to pay back the rebate, and the contractor will be deemed ineligible to offer
rebates to future customers.
