Training & Education
The Board of County Commissioners may authorize employees to participate in job-related training approved by the employee's
Department Head/Elected Official and the Human Resources Department. Full-time and part-time employees who have completed
their initial review period are eligible to apply for training benefits. The training requested must benefit the County and
must be directly applicable to the employee's current job classification.
The benefits referenced on this web site are a summary only and may be changed at any time, with or without notice. For specific
coverage, please contact Human Resources at 303-795-4483.
Tuition Reimbursement Policy Determination of reimbursement will depend upon the benefit the County can reasonably be expected to obtain from the employee's
completion of the course. Tuition reimbursement is subject to the following provisions:
- The course must be directly job-related. Education is considered directly job-related if it is undertaken by the employee
to keep his/her present position, either because it is required to keep his/her present skills or required to improve his/her
present skills or because the employer or law requires it.
- Reimbursements currently are granted on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Reimbursements may be granted if and when funds are made available by the Board of County Commissioners
- The maximum tuition assistance benefit for formal classroom educational assistance per calendar year at any academic institution
currently does not exceed $1,200 per employee
- The County reimburses 100 percent of the cost of textbooks.
