The Arapahoe County Adopt a Family holiday gift-giving program is a non-profit organization created by Arapahoe County Department of Human Services employees
that seeks each December to give a special holiday season to local families and at-risk seniors who might otherwise go without
gifts.
The program benefits county residents who are involved with the Department of Human Services for many reasons, such as being
victims of abuse and neglect, or those who are experiencing financial hardship.
Thanks to the generosity of Arapahoe County, citizens, employees, community organizations and businesses, in 2009, the program
provided more than 600 adults and children with a very special holiday!
How It Works
Donators are matched with a family or individual whose needs and wishes melt their heart and fit their budget. They purchase
and wrap new items on that family’s needs/wish list, and deliver them to our Winter Wonderland location in Aurora in early
December.
Due to client confidentiality, donators cannot directly deliver gifts to the adopted families. So Arapahoe County employees
arrange for the family to pick them up.
Groups of donators are welcome! If you can’t shop for items, gift cards or monetary donations are always welcome. All contributions
and purchases toward the program are tax-deductible, with 100-percent of the money going to families in-need.
How To Donate
The program will kick off again in November 2010. Contact the Adopt a Family hotline at 303-636-1150 to request more information on becoming a donator in 2010.
