Foster a Child
A child needs your help:
- Will you provide a soft bed so they can sleep?
- Will you provide a warm meal to keep them well fed?
- Will you demonstrate the role of a parent and make a difference in the life of a child most in need?
Arapahoe and Jefferson Counties have joined forces to recruit and retain foster homes for children who have suffered a loss
or have been removed from harmful environments. While we work to find the best possible solution for each child - whether
it's being reunited with biological parents, living with relatives, or being adopted into a new family entirely - the child
lives in the safety of a foster home.
To achieve this, we need stable, caring foster homes where parents can embrace children with challenging behaviors. For more information, call 303-636-1KID or download our Foster Care & Adoption Brochure.
What is foster care? When an abused or neglected child needs protection and is unable to remain at home, foster parents provide children with stability
and a safe place to live that honors true childhood until their biological family can properly care for them.
As a foster parent, you are a team member in the family's reunification efforts and provide a child with the guidance, discipline,
nurturance and safety you would give your own children. In return, we provide you with support services to help you address
each child's individual needs until he or she can return home, be adopted or live independently.
Foster parents are responsible for the day-to-day care of a child. You provide a safe place to live, a bed of their own, food
and clothing, and transportation to family visits, medical and dental visits and therapeutic services as needed.
