Do you need to make changes to your child support order amount?
Either parent of an active child support case may request a review of their child support order for possible modification.
Child Support Enforcement Services will notify both parents, in writing, every three years of their right to request such
a review.
Child Support Enforcement can review the order and both parents’ current circumstances to determine if the support amount
should be re-calculated. An order may be modified only if the re-calculation using child support guidelines results in a change of at least 10% up or down in the amount of support. A review could indicate that no change is necessary.
If the child support amount is adjusted, the order will be effective from the date the order is signed by the parties or the
court. If a party is receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the review is automatic.
How To Request a Modification
Please complete the following Modification Form and include proof of the change in circumstances leading to the request:
- If your order was reviewed or filed within the last three years, your written request must have evidence (such as pay stubs,
day care statements, etc.) attached showing that a substantial change in circumstances (more than 10%) has occurred.
- The change can be in the cost of maintaining medical coverage for the child, day care costs, number of overnights, or changes
in your hourly or monthly salary, for example.
Please see our Frequently-Asked Questions on Modifying a Child/Medical Support Order.
