Engineering Services Permits

The Engineering Services Division has field staff devoted to permitting and inspecting of infrastructure approved by the Engineering Services review engineers. Staff inspects all components of the public improvements including roadway, storm drainage and environmental best management practices (BMP). The field staff is also responsible for enforcing the terms of the Subdivision Improvement Agreements. However, the only inspections that Engineering Services performs are related to infrastructure that require permits relating to the following: Public Improvement Construction Permit, Street Cut and Right-of-Way Use Permit, Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control (GESC) Permit, Oversize/Overweight Vehicle Permit, and Traffic Signing, Striping and Signalization Permit. Any type of inspection that involves a building or house, i.e., electrical, plumbing, foundation, dry wall, roof, attached garage, or an addition or improvement to a house must go through the Building Division at 720-874-6600.

The Engineering Services field staff is also responsible for the permitting and inspection of various utilities within the public Right Of Way. Staff ensures that all infrastructure is adequately repaired and landscaping is properly restored following installation or repair of utilities. Staff also ensures that all construction performed within the ROW is done in a manner consistent with current GESC requirements. Staff monitors construction traffic control to ensure motorists are not unreasonably delayed due to the ROW activity and work zone safety standards are followed.

When public infrastructure is determined to be constructed in conformance with the County's standards the Inspectors issue an acceptance of the public improvements.

Field staff also is responsible for GESC permitting and inspection related to new development to ensure Arapahoe County complies with our Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit. (Stormwater Permit)
