The Department of Public Works-Transportation Division has developed a Preliminary Design for Gun Club Road between S. Aurora
Parkway and Quincy Avenue.
This project required coordination between multiple jurisdictions due to the varied right of way ownership in the area. Coordination
between Arapahoe County, the City of Aurora, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the E- 470 Authority occurred. Through
this design coordination a Partial Continuous Flow (CFI) intersection was agreed upon as the most efficient and cost effective
solution to the future Quincy Road/ Gun Club Road intersection.
Today a four lane roadway section on Gun Club Road is necessary, the anticipated construction cost of this four lane section
from South Aurora Parkway to the Quincy Avenue intersection is anticipated to be $20 million. Widening of the Gun Club Road
corridor between S. Aurora Parkway and Quincy Avenue from a two lane section to a four lane section is not anticipated to
occur for at least five years.
As more development occurs in the region, significant traffic volume increases are anticipated both on the Quincy Avenue and
Gun Club Road corridor. Based on the traffic projections, a 6- lane Gun Club Road corridor is anticipated in 15 to 20 years.
