Department Mission

The Public Works and Development Department strives to provide: 

• Safe, effective and efficient maintenance of the County's roadway system;
• Adequate planning, design, and construction of new roadways, storm drainage, capital improvement projects and traffic safety;
• Permits and inspections of all building construction to ensure conformance with the applicable Uniform Building Codes;
• Quality, efficient and professional services in the area of Planning and Zoning;
• Services relating to traffic signals and roadway design, signing, and striping;
• Permits and inspections of  all privately constructed improvements on County right-of-way;
• The design, construction, and maintenance of the public storm water drainage and flood control infrastructure;
• A timely and concise review of all documents relating to development proposals to ensure privately designed and constructed public improvements adequately support new land development proposals;
• Various maps of the County including zoning, assessors, special districts, street and general highway maps.
