Q:  What are the benefits of CIT?
A:  Better service is provided by increasing the recognition, understanding, and treatment of persons with mental illnesses/disabilities that are in crisis; Violence and risks to personal safety are reduced through training; and alternatives to entering the criminal justice are sometimes available.

Q:  Why train police?
A: 

• First responders to 911 calls
• For safety and to de-escalate crisis
• For availability of and access to community resources
• For awareness and understanding

Q:  How do I access CIT?
A:  Any citizen calling for service can request a CIT deputy to be dispatched within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Sheriff’s Office.
