| The Pre-Release Job Skills Workshops are available for inmates who have three months or less remaining on their sentence.
The primary goal of this program is to provide the inmates with the necessary skills to assist them in finding and retaining
employment after their release.
A key element to success for recently released inmates is finding full-time gainful employment. Studies indicate that this
is a significant deterrent to recidivism. Various topics explored during the workshops include Job Values and Interests; Barriers
to Employment; Preparing Resumes and the Job Application Process; and Keeping the Job.
Pre-Release is operated as a collaborative effort between Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and Arapahoe/Douglas Works! The
supportive services consist of (e.g. job assistance for felons, clothing, food, transportation, etc.). Hopefully, these services
will increase the recently released inmates chances for a successful reintegration into the community. Approximately 187 inmates attend Pre-Release Classes each month.
