Arapahoe County Detention Facility provides eight-week psycho-educational modules of Substance Abuse Education. These weekly
classes are designed to inform inmates about alcohol and drug abuse, motivate inmates to make positive behavioral changes
in their alcohol and drug use patterns, and provide community resource lists to encourage continued drug and alcohol treatment
when the inmates are released back into the community.
Inmates learn to recognize how drug and alcohol use impacts lifestyle choices, how sobriety will help them move towards positive
goals, and the physiological effects of drugs and alcohol. Approximately 50 inmates attend Substance Abuse Education each
week.
