Inmate Programs

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility is fortunate to have more than 150 volunteers donate their time to help with various inmate programs. More than 75 programs are offered to inmates on a weekly basis and are staffed predominantly by volunteers. Volunteers facilitate A.A. meetings and numerous religious services each week. They also tutor inmates in Adult Basic Education Classes and help in the Detention Facility Library. Additionally, we have Professional Clergy volunteers who meet with inmates on an individual basis to provide counseling and religious support.

We are very grateful to have such a successful volunteer program at the Detention Center. Volunteers report that they find their volunteer experience to be very rewarding. In fact, we have several dedicated volunteers who generously have volunteered in the Detention Facility for more than 20 years.

Citizens interested in volunteering at the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility can contact Sherri Hanak at 720-874-3527 or Linda Palmer at 720-874-3528. We are currently in need of Education volunteers.
