Patrick J. Sullivan Detention Facility Mail Procedures

The following are general mail rules:

1. All incoming mail will be inspected
2. Mail is processed and distributed Monday through Friday excluding Holidays
3. Inmates may receive incoming mail, sealed letters from family and friends, groups of persons and organizations, including, but not limited to the following:
4. 1. Courts, counsel, officials of the jail, government officials, administrators of the grievance systems, medical officials and members of the parole authority.
5. Non Legal envelopes over 8” (inches) x 10” (inches), packages, boxes and other similar items are considered parcels will not be accepted without pre-approval
6. 1. Approval may be gained by contacting the Property Section Supervisor at 720-874-3588

Please use the following address to send an inmate mail:

Mail will not be accepted under the following conditions:

1. Mail containing;
2. 1. Polaroid’s
   2. Stationary
   3. Any food items
   4. Any type of contraband
   5. Infectious/hazardous materials
   6. Photographs no larger that 4” x 6”
   7. Newspaper articles and pages from books or magazines
   8. Payroll checks, Personal checks, Third party checks
   9. Papers with non postage materials to include: oils, chemicals, liquid or foreign matter
   10. Materials depicting sexual activity or displaying male/female genitalia or females breasts
3. Insufficient postage
4. Homemade envelopes
5. No return address on the mailing

Mail will be rejected under the following reasons:

1. If there is a reasonable suspicion that the correspondence may contain the following:
2. 1. Plans for criminal activity

1. Instruction for the manufacture of weapons, drugs, drug paraphernalia or alcoholic beverages
2. Codes not understood by the scanner, to include gang graffiti or "tagging"

1. The detailed construction of weapons, explosives, or incendiary devices
2. Materials that would disrupt the operation and/or safety of the Facility
3. Gang-related materials
