During the 135 year history of the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, two deputies have been killed or died in the line of duty.
Undersheriff Benjamin Lee Goorman

Undersheriff Goorman was killed by a theft suspect while conducting a search of a Littleton apartment on June 20, 1945.  He was 29 years old and was survived by a wife and three children.  After being shot by assisting officers, the suspect took his own life.  

Investigator Roland Lackey

Roland Lackey died of a massive heart attack after completing an area search for a reported child kidnapping victim on October 27, 1993.  He was 46 years old and is survived by a wife and four children.

While employed by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, Roland held positions as a patrol deputy, field training deputy, motorcycle deputy, hostage negotiator and a criminal investigator.
