The Female Empowerment group is offered for all women inmates on a first come first serve basis. The group is six weeks in
length and is catered to women who are interested in developing or enhancing a sense of self. The group goal is to guide participants
to the realization and responsibility of choosing one's path in life and having control over emotions and reactions.
The group discusses intellect and then a short self-assessment is completed. Participants are able to recognize their strengths
and weaknesses through these types of exercises. A timeline is completed that assists participants in seeing positive and
negative patterns in a lifetime. The group discusses stressors and triggers in life.
The Female Empowerment Group is operated as a collaborative effort between Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office and Aurora Mental
Heath Network. A Case Manager co-facilitates the group and aides motivated females interested in pre-release planning.
