On July 30, 2009, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies were dispatched to search for suspects seen entering an apartment illegally.  Assisted by ACSO Investigators, Deputies set up a perimeter and searched the area for signs of any other burglaries and/or suspicious activities. As a result, one male was discovered in a vehicle while another male, who fled on foot, was soon located by the K9 Unit.  Both men were taken into custody. Weapons were found in the possession of both suspects.

On walkthrough, Deputies observed victim residences to be ransacked, with items strewn about the floors and dresser drawers dumped out. Victim statements were completed, to include a detailed description of property taken from each residence.

The suspects requested their attorneys be present so investigators were unable to interview them. However, one male did spontaneously offer that he was, “only helping a friend move” and “did not understand what was going on.” Criminal history inquiries on both suspects revealed outstanding multi-jurisdictional cases, as well as prior felony convictions, which automatically prohibited either male from carrying weapons.

On August 4, 2009, Investigators obtained a search warrant and, along with ACSO Criminalists, searched the suspect vehicle. A total of 47 items, to include various electronics, jewelry and loaded firearms were found in the vehicle; all matching the victims’ previous statement descriptions. After processing, the property was returned to the legal owners.

Further analysis was conducted of additional burglaries that were committed on the same date and in the same geographical area, verifying a high probability that these same suspects may allegedly have been involved in those crimes as well.
