Street Robberies
During the months of October and November 2007, Investigators from both the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigated a pattern crime involving street robberies.

Investigators established a pattern of six street robberies that were believed to be committed by the same suspects. The robberies occurred along the Smoky Hill corridor between South Chambers Street and E-470.

The victims described the suspects as 15 to 19 year old males wearing dark clothing and ski masks. The suspects were armed with a pistol and demanded cash, purses, wallets and car keys.

The suspects were believed to be driving an older 90’s blue or black Honda and a 2002-3 silver Honda with tinted windows.

Investigators from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office followed up numerous leads including the use of the credit cards that were stolen by the robbery suspects. Investigators identified several convenience stores where the cards were used and were able to obtain surveillance photos of the suspects that used the stolen cards.

The surveillance photos were released to the media in conjunction with composite drawings of the suspects. Crime Stoppers publicized the photos and offered a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Investigators continued to follow up leads and developed several suspects. In January of 2008 investigators received a tip from two citizens who recognized the individuals in the surveillance photos. Investigators met with each of the citizens and obtained information that helped investigators target several suspects.

Investigators developed enough evidence to obtain search warrants for several residences. Investigators executed the search warrants and obtained evidence that connected the suspects to the stolen property.

Two suspects were arrested and charges were filed with the District Attorney’s Office.

Since the arrest of the two suspects this pattern crime has stopped.
