KYGO Christmas Crusade for Children Organized in 1983 by a small group of “Santa Cops,” the Christmas Crusade for Children program was designed to enable city
and state police and Sheriff’s Office personnel to bring the joy of Christmas morning to underprivileged children. Today,
41 law enforcement agencies continue the work of helping individual families and identifying the needs of children during
the holidays. A special thanks goes out to the countless Sheriff’s Office Citizen Academy Alumni who volunteered their time on Dec. 11 at
the KYGO headquarters answering phones, organizing files and working in the toy room. The KYGO staff said the volunteers were
a tremendous help with getting things organized and up to date. In 2009 over 6,000 children in Colorado received a gift under the tree thanks to this program. The Christmas Crusade for Children
program has touched over 190,000 kids since its inception. The program's success is attributed to the combined outreach of
thousands of law enforcement officers, KYGO radio listeners, major businesses and concerned individuals.
