Traffic stop leads to discovery of methamphetamine lab
On March 19, 2008, Deputy Klisnick contacted the occupants of a black Acura after observing a traffic violation. It was later
learned the driver’s license was revoked and the passenger had an active felony warrant for Identity Theft.
During a consensual search of the vehicle, Deputy Klisnick found possible components for a Meth Lab, as well as items used
in Identify Theft. Agents from the South Metro Drug Task Force and the Investigations Division responded to the scene.
Both suspects were charged with possession of materials to manufacture controlled substances and Identify Theft.
Law Enforcement Explorers Participate in 2008 Mock Disaster
On April 19, 2008, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post participated in the 2008 Annual Exploring Mock Disaster. This
year’s exercise, hosted by the Parker Fire Department, included a simulated plane crash, collateral damage to cars and buildings,
numerous injured individuals and an armed suspect.
The training exercise was designed to test and improve the interoperability among multiple disciplines to include; Law Enforcement,
Fire and Medical Explorers. The exercise was also planned to test the Explorers abilities to function within an Incident Command
Structure.
As Explorers, these young adults are recognized as members of Citizen Corps through Volunteers in Police Service and Medical
Reserve Corps. The training they receive throughout the year, aids individual agencies and prepares the Explorers for regional
competitions. Many will take this knowledge and experience applying it in future roles as full time members of law enforcement,
fire or medical agencies.

Deputies wait tables to benefit Special Olympics
On April 12, 2008 Deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office traded in their handcuffs and badges for serving aprons
and burgers to benefit Special Olympics Colorado. This was the fourth year Red Robin restaurants in Colorado hosted the Tip-A-Cop
fundraiser. 
Tip-A-Cop is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) campaign. LETR, which includes an international series of
relay runs and special events like Tip-A-Cop, is presented by more than 85,000 law enforcement officers worldwide to help
raise money and public awareness for Special Olympics.
Thanks to the communities generosity, over $6,600 was raised during this one day event. If you would like more information
