Field Training and Evaluation Program

The Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) is managed by a Patrol Services Lieutenant and three Sergeants. One sergeant handles the administrative duties, while the other sergeants deal directly with the training officers and trainees on daily operations of the program.

Deputies with minimal law enforcement experience complete a 13-week program where they are evaluated on a daily basis by their training officers, while deputies with prior experience can complete the program within 10-weeks.

Trainees are evaluated on certain criteria dealing with important law enforcement activities to include officer safety, driving, general appearance, and community policing.

Those deputies selected to be Field Training Officers have demonstrated outstanding performance in their field.
