Community Corrections was established toassist with an offender’s reintegration into the community through enhanced supervision and specialized services and treatment. It provides services to the Diversion client as a direct sentence or the Transition client referred directly from the Department of Corrections as authorized in Title 17, Article 27, of the Colorado Revised Statutes.

Community Corrections Board

The Community Corrections Board is appointed annually by the Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners and consists of up to 19 members representing agencies and citizens within the 18th Judicial District. Members include mental health professions, citizens, law enforcement officers, a District Court Judge, and a representative from the District Attorney’s Office, Office of the Public Defender, Probation Department, the City of Aurora, the City of Littleton, and the Arapahoe County Community Resources Department.

Board Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing cases for residential placement
  • Monitoring individual program’s contract compliance with the State (Department of Public Safety) and the Board of County Commissioners
  • Monitoring State Standards for residential and nonresidential services.
  • Monitoring escape information and statistics
  • Maintaining legislative contact and interaction.
The Judicial Services Director provides technical and administrative assistance to the Arapahoe County Community Corrections Board and serves as a liaison between Board members, the Division of Criminal Justice, the Probation Department, the Department of Corrections, legislators and the community.
The Judicial Services Administrative Clerk provides clerical assistance to the Board; prepares cases for Full Board Review and assists the Director with the distribution of packet information, letters and communication for special committees as needed.
A Judicial Services Officer provides supervision to any offender sentenced to Community Corrections awaiting placement in the community, and provides information and presents cases to the Review Committee for approval or rejection.
