Emergency Management

Manmade or natural, disasters can strike at any time. The Office of Emergency Management provides leadership, planning, education and resources to protect lives, property and the environment in the event a disaster were to strike Arapahoe County.

Sheriff Grayson Robinson serves as the County's Emergency Manager with the day-to-day operations overseen by Emergency Management Coordinator Lt. Greg Palmer. Emergency Management works with County departments, local governments, volunteer organizations and the private sector across the Denver Metro area to develop disaster preparedness plans and provide training and exercise activities.

One of Emergency Management's primary goals is to ensure training and information is available to both first responders and the community. The Sheriff’s Office strongly supports the community training program known as Community Emergency Response Team or CERT. This program teaches residents how to care for themselves, their families, their home, their neighbors and community if a large-scale incident should occur and first responders are not available. CERT training programs have been extremely successful around the country and we are sure it will be a success in Arapahoe County.
